About BBSC Run
We are an endurance sports event management company. We own and operate multiple events throughout the Southwest region. We also provide event management services to other race companies and nonprofits that share in our belief. We love what we do and we are good at it. We are excited to continue to improve, provide and progress in the endurance sports we love.
Our Mission: Promote health and fitness by providing race management services for people of all ages and abilities. We give individuals and groups the opportunity to participate in competitive and recreational racing in scenic, vacation destinations. We strive to instill healthy and active lifestyles in our communities.
How we got started: In 2007, Brent started a nonprofit triathlon known as Tri For Your Cause. The fundraising event was a phenomenon that was embraced by the Boulder community and quickly gained recognition and support by the community. With the help of his family and friends, Brent doubled the size of the triathlon and the nonprofits he supported in just 3 short years. Simultaneously, Brent started his own timing service, known as Flatirons Events Specialists. It was during this time that Brent started timing races for BBSC Endurance Sports. He soon fell in love with the scenic destinations and the quality race production of BBSC. Brent decided he wanted to continue his passion in endurance sports and a year later he became the owner of BBSC. Drawing on his previous experience as a race director, he was ready to start. Brent has been able to grow and transform BBSC into a company that now operates in Colorado, Utah and Nevada.
Over the next several years, Brent would go on to pursue a medical education at Drexel College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He is currently in his last year of medical school before being accepted into a residency program in Primary/Family Medicine with a fellowship in Sports Medicine.
Fast forward to present day and Brent's vision continues to grow, as we recently acquired several running races and started a brand new running series in the Las Vegas area.
Each race is more than just a race, as Brent, Michelle, Cedric & Craig have worked hard to make sure the atmosphere is fun and inviting to all levels of ability, and that there is always a post-race celebration. From the largest reservoir in the US, to the rolling Flatirons of Boulder, Brent and BBSC’s crew work hard to promote healthy living and physical activity in scenic destinations through extraordinary events.
Meet the Staff
Brent Herron, Owner / Finish Line Announcer
Brent’s triathlon and endurance running interest started after witnessing the World Championships in Kona in 2004. Over the next three years, Brent completed three ironman triathlons. In 2007, Brent founded Your Cause Sports, a nonprofit triathlon production company that has raised money for hundreds of charities to date. In 2008, Brent started timing triathlons, marathons and other endurance races. One of his timing clients happend to be BBSC Endurance Sports. He fell in love with the scenic venues and quality race production that BBSC stood for and became the new owner within the same year.
“It has been a journey along the way, but I strongly believe we have some of the best employees, thus, some of the best race productions in the region. And we offer it all at affordable prices, compared to other triathlons at the same venues.”
Brent is constantly trying to improve BBSC, as he provides direction to the operation. Brent is also a medical student at Drexel College of Medicine and plans to graduate in 2015. Almost never missing an event, you will find Brent at packet pickup, announcing on race day, and doing labor.
Cedric Keppler, CEO / Race Director
Cedric was introduced to the world of endurance sports when he and Brent became best friends at University of Colorado in 2004. Cedric never hesitated to volunteer at BBSC events while maintaining his full time job. Cedric's passion for endurance sports quickly led to a business partnership with Brent in 2012, when Cedric left the corporate world of inside sales to dedicate his life to triathlon production. After endless training, coaching, and certification courses, Cedric took the roll of CEO and race director so that Brent could focus on medical school.
Cedric provides direction for the company, while performing the duties of a race director. On race day, Cedric ensures that all the pieces of the puzzle come together. You’ll find him setting up barricades, answering athlete emails, securing vendors, marking the course, directing paramedics, police officers, volunteers, and most importantly, making sure that everyone is SAFE!
Michelle Lund, Director of Marketing / Graphic & Web Design / Packet Pick Up Coordinator / Announcer
Michelle has been with BBSC since the 2011 season. She is the creative of the bunch. She helps direct BBSC’s marketing plan, race material and website. Michelle grew up in the Midwest and attended Bradley University, where she accepted a full-ride scholarship to play Division I Women’s Basketball. Shortly after, her love of the outdoors led her to Colorado. After she completed a team marketing internship with Reebok, she was brought in by BBSC.
She works with our logistics, volunteers, vendors & sponsors. She dedicates her time to learning more about the endurance sports world by competing herself. On race day, she is directing volunteers, coordinating expo and finish line, and you’ll find her on stage during awards.
Craig Towler, Event Coordinator, Sponsorship, Volunteers
Craig was born and raised in Boulder, CO and is very passionate about the outdoors, fitness and health. Having competed on various sporting teams such as baseball, basketball, and track & field, Craig continued to expand his horizon by joining the BBSC crew in 2012. As a close friend of the BBSC staff, Craig volunteered at various races. He quickly fell in love with the high-level stress of race-day execution, and became the official course coordinator in 2013. Craig is an avid weightlifter and carries his competitive attitude to race week, fitting perfectly into the mission and the tradition of BBSC.
Alex Herron, Event Timing Specialist
Alex has been with BBSC from the start, as the brother of Brent. He is currently a senior at University of Colorado, graduating with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Alex is interested in teaching science at a higher level. Since he ran Track & Field and Cross Country in high school, he naturally fit in with the BBSC.
He is in charge of all things timing; from putting down and connecting every timing mat, box and wire to uploading the data to print results-- Thanks to him, you'll know how fast you finished after the race!
