BBSC Endurance Sports shares in everyone’s excitement in the anticipation of races coming back in 2021. COVID-19 has drastically altered the endurance sports landscape as a whole, and BBSC has not been immune to these changes. We are working diligently to bring our events back to you in 2021. We are currently working with local and state officials in each market to come up with new race plans, courses, and protocols to not only ensure that we are able to host events, but more importantly to create a safe environment for our participants, volunteers, staff, and the surrounding community.
Due to the variety of our events, each race will have its own COVID-19 protocols, tailored to the unique challenges presented. In addition to those, there are general protocols that will be in place for each event. These will be updated as national, state, and local precautions are revised.
Athletes who are currently displaying any symptoms or have been potentially exposed to any infectious agent must not attend any event. We must be self-regulating, and selfless in regards to the rest of the event, by opting out of the race in order to protect the rest of the participants, volunteers and staff. We ask that all participants simply follow the basic protective guidelines set out by the World Health Organization (WHO)
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call-in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Regularly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash your hands with soap and water, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Practice good respiratory hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of used tissues immediately and appropriately in a bin.
We all know that we are in an ever-changing environment regarding COVID-19. For that reason, we are offering plenty of flexibility for our registered athletes.
In the case of an event cancelation, any registered athlete will receive a coupon code in the amount of that registration fee. This coupon can be used for any other BBSC event in 2021
If in the days leading up to an event you are showing any symptoms of sickness, or have potentially been exposed to COVID-19, you will receive the same courtesy of a coupon code to be used at any other BBSC event in the 2021 season
In order to provide a safe experience for all involved at our races, the following protocols are now in place and will be enforced. Failure to comply with any stated COVID-19 safety measures before, during, or after the event, will result in being asked to leave the venue, and no reimbursement of any kind will be awarded.
Packet-Pickup hours and layout are subject to change, dependent on athlete numbers, location, and local protocols
All athletes, volunteers, and staff will be required to wear a mask at all times during the event unless they are more than 25’ from any other person.
Athlete density and congregation will be drastically decreased
Additional sanitation stations will be provided around the venue
All athletes, volunteers, and staff will be required to complete a COVID-19 symptoms questioner, and have a temperature check before entering the venue
Start times will be based on the distance of the race as well as your own expected pace
For many events, this separation by distance and pace will apply to arrival on race day. We will be asking that participants in later waves arrive with just enough time to get to the start line
Some courses and distances will have to be adjusted in order to mitigate congestion
All athletes will be asked to be self-sufficient on course. This means that you will be required to provide your own hydration and nutrition. On longer courses touchless aid stations will be provided offering hydration and sealed nutrition
Post-Race awards and events have been suspended; finishers will be asked to leave the venue directly upon receiving their medal at the completion of their race
We all want to get back to normal racing, but realistically it will take some time for that to happen. In order to have the opportunity to race at all this year we will need the help of all of you. We will do what we can on our end to ensure a safe racing environment, but we need you all to stay safe before, during, and after your race. We are very optimistic that we will have the privilege to bring many of our events back in 2021, but we cannot do that without the confidence that our safety measures will be respected and followed. So please, do you part, stay safe, healthy, and optimistic. See you at the start line!
