COVID-19 Mitigation Plan

It Starts with You!

We ask that all participants please be prepared to follow all directions and protocols to keep everyone safe. Participants, Volunteers, Staff, and Sponsors must wear masks at all times.

Before the Event

  • If you have COVID-related symptoms please stay home. Symptoms include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, the new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

  • We recommend high-risk individuals and individuals traveling from high infection areas consider not attending our event.

  • If you are feeling unwell prior to the event or are immune-compromised, please notify us and we can transfer your registration fee. Please email us at

Packet Pick-Up

  • Option #1: Pick up your bib at McGhie’s Henderson on Friday, March 12th, between 3:00pm and 7:00pm. You must wear a mask while picking up your items and stay six feet away from other people in line. Please try to attend the Friday night pick-up option if possible.

  • Option #2: Race Day packet pick-up. You must pick up your bib at least 15 minutes PRIOR to your start time. Find packet pick-up on race morning in the parking lot of the Hoover Dam Lodge. You must wear a mask while picking up your items and stay six feet away from other people in line.

Rolling Start

This year we will be utilizing a rolling start system, starting individual runners at 5-second intervals.  We will be starting the faster participants first designated by the expected pace.  The 5k will be going off first at 7:30am, followed by the 10k and then the Half Marathon. We are using this format to space out runners on course, as well as lessen congestion at the start, finish, and parking areas.

More information on start times will come as we get closer to race day.

Start Line

All participants need to wear a mask and stay socially distanced while they wait for their start time.

Adaptive Course Changes

  • The Hoover Dam Overlook turnaround has been omitted.  Because of this the 12k is now a 10k. This is to avoid congestion at the Dam.

  • The start line and finish line locations have been changed. Please view the new course maps for exact locations: [link to course maps]

  • Venue and staging maps will be available soon

Aid Stations

  • The only aid stations will be at the first Half Marathon turn around located at roughly mile 3.5, and the far turn around located at roughly mile 10 of the Half Marathon.  This aid station will also serve the 10k runners.

  • Aid station volunteers will wear masks and sanitize when preparing aid stations

  • Only water will be provided via touchless water dispensers.

Finish Line

  • Upon completion of the race, participants will walk by several tables to pick up their finisher medal and water.

  • All volunteers at the finish line will wear masks and gloves

  • Unfortunately, we can not invite any spectators to the start or finish lines

  • Once runners have finished, we ask that they do not linger at the finish line.

  • Unfortunately, there will be no awards ceremony or post-race party.

Course Cut-Off

There will be strict a strict cut-off for the Half Marathon.  Half Marathon runners must maintain a 15 min pace. From the time that the last runner crosses the start line, participants will have 2 hours to make it to Mile 8. At mile 8 runners who have not made this cut off will be asked to turn around and head back to the finish line, where they will still receive their medal.  This will be clearly conveyed to runners.

Any updates or changes regarding our operations plan will be posted here, as they become available.
